School Day
The school day begins promptly 8.45am and ends at 3:15pm on the playground. The time spent in school each week is 32 hours and 5 minutes.
The morning register is taken at 8.45am. Typically, the first lesson of the day is maths, which is usually taught to separate year groups. Maths is normally followed by an English lesson.
Most days an act of collective worship or an assembly takes place at 10.40am before break, which begins at 11:00am. On the other days, worship takes place in classrooms. On a Friday, we hold a celebration at 2.50pm, where certificates are presented. Parents and carers are invited to attend.
At breaktime, younger children are provided with a piece of fruit or a carrot as a snack. Older children are invited to bring their own healthy snacks. All children must have a water bottle in school so that they can drink water when thirsty.
Lunch begins at 12:15pm and is staggered to allow all pupils to eat in comfort in the school hall. Our cook serves freshly prepared meals and some children bring a packed lunch. Children in Acorn Class, and children in Years 1 and 2 are entitled to free school meals, as are eligible children in Year 3 and above.
Lessons resume at 1:15pm and end at 3:15pm, when it is time to go home, to an after-school activity or to All Stars After-School Club.
If you think you might be late, or if someone else will be collecting your child, you must contact the school office as soon as possible on 01865 872702 to let us know.
Please let the school know if you have arranged for someone else to collect your child. You can telephone or email the school office at office@horspathschool.org. We cannot release your child to someone else without your direct permission.
